Here’s my review of the first episode. Contains spoilers & screenshots.

At the beginning of the episode we see a group of people searching for a certain Megumi-chan in the forest. It’s the 12th of August, and the story takes place in a small village called Sotoba.
В начале серии мы видим группу людей, которые ищут в лесу некую Мэгуми-тян. Всё это происходит 12-го августа, в маленькой деревушке под названием Сотоба.

The whole village is looking for Megumi-chan and they will find her.

The whole story actually starts a bit earlier. Megumi-chan is a schoolgirl, and she hates Sotoba for being a small unfashionable village in the middle of nowhere. She dreams about going to a big city for college and becoming famous one day.
Megumi-chan dreamt a lot
Meanwhile, a mysterious incident happened in Sotoba – the police investigates the death of 3 people. The corpses are decomposed and without a trace of an injury or anything of that kind. However, it’s doubtful the deaths were caused by natural reasons.
Тем временем, в Сотобе случается нечто из ряда вон – полиция расследует смерть трёх человек. Трупы разложились, а следов каких-либо повреждений нет. Тем не менее, естественные причины этих смертей вызывают сомнения.

The corpses were found by Muroi-san, a local priest and novelist.
Трупы обнаружил Мурой-сан, местный священник и писатель-романист.
Muroi Seishin-san
The one who doubts the deaths were natural is Ozaki-san, the director of local hospital. He thinks, that an old woman died the last, which means she had lived with 2 corpses for several days.
Директор местой больницы, Одзаки-сан, сомневается в том, что все трое умерли своей смертью. Он считает, что последней умерла старая женщина, а это значит, что она несколько дней провела в одном доме с двумя трупами.

But 15-year old Megumi doesn’t care about people dying. The only 2 things she really likes about Sotoba are a European-styled mansion and Natsuno Yuuki-kun.
Но пятнадцатилетней Мэгуми фиолетово, умирают люди или нет. Единственные две вещи, которые ей нравятся в родной деревне – особняк в европейском стиле и Нацуно Юки-кун.

But Yuuki-kun doesn’t care about Megumi-chan and her feelings.

One night a strange family moves into the mansion. Of сourse, the next day the whole village knew about it.
Однажды ночью в особняк переезжает странная семья. Разумеется, на следующий день об этом знала уже вся деревня.

Megumi-chan decided to go to the mansion at once, because she was just a stupid young girl.
Мэгуми-тян, как и положено всякой молоденькой дурочке, тотчас решила наведаться в особняк.

After that, Megumi-chan disappeared and was found in the forest 2 days later. She was alive, but exhausted and apathetic. She was slowly fading away and died a couple of days later. What she saw in the mansion and how she met the Kirishiki family remains a mystery.
После этого Мэгуми исчезла. Её нашли в лесу через два дня. Она была жива, но очень истощена и апатична. Ещё несколько дней она медленно угасала и в конце концов умерла. Остаётся загадкой, что она видела в особняке и какой была её встреча с семьёй Кирисики.

The ED is gorgeous
If I were to compare this anime with other similar titles, I’d say it’s better than Ookamikakushi but not as good as Mouryou no Hako (which is a masterpiece). It’s definitely not Umineko, not sure about Higurashi, but I guess both of these focus on different things. Anyway, I like most of ‘noitaminA’ animes, and this one fits very well.
Если сравнивать с другими подобными сериалами, то я бы сказала что этот лучше чем ‘Ookamikakushi’, но не так хорош как ‘Mouryou no Hako’ (которое просто шедевр). Определённо это не Чайки и не Цикады, эти сериалы вообще сосредоточены на другом. В любом случае, мне нравятся почти все сериалы ‘noitaminA’, и этот не исключение.
