Сюжет этого оригинального аниме прост (и знаком) – обыкновенный японский школьник неожиданно встречает загадочную красотку (и по совместительству, певицу), её похищают прямо у него на глазах, а потом начинает происходить непойми что, так что главгерою не остаётся времени на нытьё и размышления о смысле бытия – спасать надо! Заканчивается первая серия феерическим вытаскиванием меча из груди. Прибавим сюда слегка постапокалиптическое место действия – полуразрушенная пандемией страшного вируса и последующей “помощью” других стран Япония – вот вам и полная картина того, что представляет собой Guilty Crown.
Хотя нет. Для полноты картины нужно ещё отметить потрясающую красоту арта, включая дизайн персонажей, и нечеловечески прекрасную музыку, которая промоет вам мозги за первые четыре минуты, да так, что одной серии сразу станет мало, и непременно захочется посмотреть все остальные. Лучше сразу. Но не дайте этой яркой обёртке себя обмануть – под ней, на самом деле, ничего действительно оригинального не скрывается. Метания сюжета (назвать это “поворотами” язык не поворачивается) начинают раздражать серии этак к 12-й, поэтому вторую половину сериала просто сидишь и тихо молишься, чтобы он уже поскорее закончился. То же и с (недо)развитием персонажей. В итоге, получилась очередная поделка а-ля Code Geass, только уступающая тому же Гиассу во всех отношениях. А начиналось всё хорошо, да. Очень надеюсь, что ничего подобного мы больше не увидим, тем более в noitaminA, тем более от студии Production I.G.

The plot of this original anime seems simple (and familiar) – an ordinary Japanese schoolboy suddenly meets a mysterious beauty (and a songstress to boot), she gets kidnapped right before his eyes, then some weird stuff happens, and our protagonist doesn’t have time for whining or pondering over his raison d’être – it is now or never! Episode 1 concludes in drawing a sword out of a chest. Add here a bit of a postapocalyptic setting – the half-destroyed by the pandemic of a mortal virus and the subsequent ‘help’ from other countries Japan – and that’s what Guilty Crown is.
Well, to make the picture complete I must mention the breathtakingly beautiful art, including chara design, and the divinely beautiful music, that is sure to brainwash you within the first 4 minutes, so that one episode won’t be enough anymore and you’ll crave for more, right here right now. But don’t let this colourful wrapping deceive you – there isn’t a tiniest bit of originality underneath. The plot twitches (can’t really call those ‘twists’) become really annoying by Episode 12 or so, that’s why you’ll most likely spend the rest of the series just sitting there and silently praying that the show ends as soon as possible. Same goes to the character (under)development. As a result, we got a piece of amateurish stuff à la Code Geass, but inferior to the latter in every way. Though, I admit, it looked quite promising at first. I hope that we’ll never see anything like this again, especially in noitaminA, especially animated by Production I.G.
