Орэки Хотаро – обыкновенный японский школьник, которому совсем не интересна та “радужная школьная жизнь”, о которой мечтают многие. Он предпочитает оставаться в “серой” зоне, поскольку его жизненный девиз: “Если мне не нужно чего-то делать, я не буду. Если нужно – давайте покончим с этим побыстрее”. Однако, в один прекрасный день он получает письмо от своей старшей сестры и вынужден записаться в Клуб Классической Литературы, в котором, как он полагает, он будет единственным членом. К его большому удивлению, в клубной комнате он обнаруживает очень милую (и немного странную) девушку по имени Титанда Эру, которая сообщает ему, что тоже вступила в этот клуб. Хотаро, верный своему пофигистскому отношению к жизни, пытается сбежать и из клуба и от этой странной девушке. Но он и не подозревает, что стоит только ей сказать “Мне любопытно”, как её не остановить. И так для Хотаро внезапно открывается разноцветный мир.
Не могу сказать, что обожаю абсолютно все работы Kyoto Animation, но я определённо люблю многие из них. И в случае с этим аниме, KyoAni снова делают то, что получается у них лучше всего – кавайную комедию в школьных декорациях. Есть ли там что-то ещё, например, насколько там много “детектива” или “романтики” – узнаем из остальных серий. Со своей стороны хочу сказать, что, несмотря на потрясающую визуальную часть и высококачественную анимацию, первая серия совсем немного разочаровала: я ожидала чего-то более мозговыносящего. Но, в любом случае, не терпится посмотреть следующую серию. Я уверена, что у этого аниме есть потенциал.

Oreki Houtarou is an ordinary Japanese schoolboy who doesn’t wish for that ‘rose-coloured high school life’ so many dream about. He’d rather stay in the “gray” zone, for his motto is “If I don’t have to do it, I won’t. If I do have to do it, make it quick”. However, one day he receives a letter from his elder sister and is forced to join the Classic Literature Club he believes to be the only member of. To his surprise, in the clubroom he meets a cute (and a bit weird) girl, Chitanda Eru, who informs him that she has also joined this club. Houtarou, true to his laid-back attitude, attempts to get away from the club and the girl. Little does he know that once she says “I’m curious” there’s no stopping her. And suddenly, Houtarou finds himself in the multi-coloured world.
I can’t say that I love each and every Kyoto Animation work, but I certainly love many of them. And with this anime again, KyoAni does what KyoAni does best: a cute comedy with school setting. If there’s actually more to it, e.g. how much ‘mystery’ or ‘romance’ are thrown in, we will find out from the rest of the series. On my part, I want to say that despite stunning visuals and smooth animation, the first episode was a little bit underwhelming: I expected something more mind-blowing. But anyway, I’m looking forward to the next episode. I’m sure that this show has a lot of potential.

It’s hard to imagine anyone who has never heard about Death Note, a hit manga and later anime series that was, and still is, immensely popular and that set a new standard in the shounen genre (wow, I can’t believe I’ve actually phrased it like this). So, naturally, many people were excited about the next work by the same authors. And while Death Note is virtually impossible to surpass, Obata-sensei and Ohba-sensei managed to create something completely different and brilliant in its own way.

Каору, обыкновенный японский школьник, переезжает на Кюсю к своему дяде. Вообще-то, переезжает и, как следствие, переводится в другую школу он уже не в первый раз – из-за работы отца, Каору провёл большую часть своей жизни перебираясь из одного места в другое. Нужно ли объяснять, что всё это сделало нашего героя интровертом, если не социофобом. Жизнь его скучна и, по большому счёту, безрадостна. Но в первый же день в новой школе он встречает и влюбляется в Сэнтаро, своего нового одноклассника, который в школе считается хулиганом. На первый взгляд они кажутся полными противоположностями, но вскоре выясняется, что их объединяет интерес (если не страсть) к музыке.
Проще говоря, это аниме о джазе, дружбе, и радостях юности.
Но если говорить так просто, то я умаляю достоинства этого аниме. Потому что оно, в действительности, идеально во всех отношениях – от работы сэйю до фоновой музыки. Качество анимации столь высоко, что невольно начинаешь задумываться, как такое вообще возможно. По моему мнению, Sakamichi no Apollon – именно то, что представляешь себе, когда слышишь “noitaminA”, т.е. красивое дзёсэй аниме с собственными, совершенно уникальными стилем и атмосферой.
Я не люблю джаз. Никогда эту музыку не понимала, и вряд ли когда-нибудь пойму. Но, прямо как герои этого сериала, мы, зрители, получаем возможность на себе испытать магию музыки, которая околдовывает любого, хочет он того или нет, и открывает совершенно новый мир, полный захватывающих новых возможностей.
Примечание: некоторые (включая и меня) уловили какие-то яойные намёки в трейлере и в первой серии. Но не делайте поспешных выводов – никакого яоя там нет и в помине, так что не забывайте об этом, даже если даёте волю воображению :3

Year 1966, Japan.
Kaoru, a normal Japanese schoolboy, moves to Kyushu to live with his uncle’s family. In fact, it’s not his first time moving and, consequently, changing schools – due to his father’s work, Kaoru has spent most part of his life going from one place to another. Needless to say, that made him quite introverted if not sociophobic. His life is dull and doesn’t bring him lots of joy. But on his very first day in the new school he experiences a boy meets boy moment a fateful encounter with Sentaro, his classmate and assumed delinquent. The two of them seem polar opposites, but soon it turns out that they share a common interest (not to say passion): music.
Simply put, this anime is about jazz, and about friendship, and the joys of youth.
But if I’m putting it that simple, I’m not doing this show justice. Because, in fact, everything about it is perfect – from voice acting to background music. The animation is so quality that it makes you wonder how it is even possible. In my opinion, Sakamichi no Apollon is exactly what you should picture when you hear ‘noitaminA’: a beautiful josei anime with its own, completely unique style and atmosphere.
I’m not a jazz person. I’ve never understood this kind of music, and I doubt I’ll ever will. But, just like the characters of the anime itself, we, viewers, get a chance to experience the magic power of music that puts a spell on you whether you want it or not, and opens a whole new world full of exciting new possibilities.
Note: some people (myself included) got some really good BL vibes from the trailer and episode 1. But don’t be mistaken – this anime is by no means BL, so don’t forget it even if your imagination starts running wild :3

Если красота не спасёт мир, его спасёт рыбалка!
Юки – обыкновенный (?) японский школьник, который так часто менял школы, что так ни с кем и не подружился. Он не особенно коммуникабелен, и каждый раз попадая в неприятную ситуацию, он буквально тонет в океане смущения. Но всё меняется, когда он, вместе с бабушкой, переезжает на остров Эносима. Там он внезапно встречает Хару, который называет себя пришельцем, немедленно въезжает в новый дом Юки и просто одержим рыбалкой.
Да, верно. Это аниме о рыбалке. И о спасении мира.
Пока неясно, как эти две вещи связаны между собой, но я полагаю, что скоро мы всё узнаем.
Также замешаны в этом безобразии: Принц Рыбалки Нацуки и загадочный индиец Акира, который постоянно разговаривает с гусем по имени Тапиока.
Tsuritama – во всех отношениях очаровательное аниме, с характерным графическим стилем и искрящейся счастьем и радостью цветовой палитрой. Уж и не припомню, когда в последний раз доводилось видеть что-то столь жизнерадостное и красочное. Пока что в этом аниме всё хорошо и прекрасно, и пусть это не первое аниме о школьниках, это точно первое аниме о рыбалке.
Рекомендую.

If beauty doesn’t save the world, fishing will!
Yuki is a normal (?) Japanese high-school boy who has transferred schools so often that he doesn’t have a single friend. He is pretty bad at communicating and every time he finds himself in an awkward situation, he literally drowns in embarrassment. But everything changes when he, together with his grandmother, moves to the island of Enoshima. There he experiences a fateful encounter with Haru, a self-proclaimed alien who immediately moves into Yuki’s new house and is extremely passionate about fishing.
That’s right. This anime is about fishing. And saving the world.
It’s still unclear how these 2 things are related, but I suppose we will find out soon.
Also dragged into this mess: Natsuki the Fishing Prince and a mysterious Indian named Akira who always talks to his duck named Tapioca.
Tsuritama is an in every way adorable anime with really distinctive visuals and brimming with joy and happiness colour palette. In fact, I don’t remember when last I saw something that colourful and bubbling with life. So far, just everything about Tsuritama is good, and even though it may not be the first anime about high school boys, it’s definitely the first anime about fishing.
Recommended.

Честно говоря, даже посмотрев две серии я всё ещё не могу понять, с чем это едят. Я не знакома с оригинальной мангой, поэтому пока не уверена, в каком направлении движется сюжет. Аниме Zetman кажется одним из тех сериалов, которые стартуют довольно медленно (хотя первая серия выглядит немного торопливой, или, вернее, балансирующей на грани между поспешностью и динамичностью). Я не знаю, хорошо это или плохо – всё зависит от того, как будет преподнесено развитие событий в последующих сериях.
Поэтому я считаю что пока будет уместным воздержаться от обсуждения сюжетных поворотов. То, что я пока там увидела, представляет собой историю двух мальчишек, которые изначально принадлежат, скажем так, к разным мирам в силу своего социального положения. Объединяет их чувство справедливости, но, по мере того как они растут и их дружеское соперничество перерастает во вражду, становится очевидно, что их представления о справедливости в корне разнятся. В моём понимании, в этой истории нет героя, хотя она и выглядит как супергеройский экшн, а у персонажей действительно есть суперсилы; я считаю, что это история двух анти-героев. И мне очень интересно узнать, как такие персонажи будут вырисованы в этом аниме, потому что хорошо написанный “тёмный” сэйнен – птица редкая, и я очень надеюсь, что сериал не обманет моих ожиданий.
Единственное, что не очень понравилось – опенинг. Я ожидала чего-то более мощного, пафосного. Такому аниме нужна песня, производящая более сильное впечатление на зрителей.

Frankly speaking, even after watching 2 episodes I’m still at a loss. I’m not familiar with the manga, so I’m not yet sure where the storyline is going. Zetman the anime seems like a show with a slow start, if you ask me (though episode 1 felt somewhat rushed, or more like balancing between ‘rushed’ and ‘dynamic’). I don’t know if it’s good or bad – that depends on the show’s further progress.
So I believe I can for now refrain from discussing the plot twists. What I’ve seen so far is the story of two boys who initially belong to, let’s say, different worlds due to the difference in their social standing. What unites them is their sense of justice, but as they grow older and their friendly rivalry escalates, it becomes evident that their ideas of justice are quite different. As I see it, there’s no hero in this story, even though it does look like some superhero stuff and does involve superpowers; I believe it’s a story of two anti-heroes. And I’m thrilled to see how such characters will be handled in this anime, because a well-written “dark” seinen story is a rare beast and I really hope that the anime will turn out as good as I’m expecting it to be.
The only thing I’m not entirely happy with is the opening song – I expected something more powerful, more over-the-top. This kind of anime calls for a song with more impact.

Очередная история из серии “мальчик встречает девочку”. Только девочка – призрак. Призрак, страдающий амнезией.
Юко – очаровательная молодая леди, которая умерла при загадочных обстоятельствах, о которых она сама ничего не помнит, в старом здании школы, которую она, по-видимому, посещала. Теперь она обитает там как призрак. Она хочет знать, как и почему умерла, но проблема в том, что никто её не слышит и не видит. Ну, почти никто.
Мне кажется, я понимаю почему мне так полюбилось это аниме. Фактически это смесь Another и Nisemonogatari, с красивой анимацией и адекватным количеством фансервиса. Опытный зритель наверняка заметит там гарем, но это всё-таки не гарем в строгом смысле слова, так что, полагаю, можно определить жанр просто как “сверхъестественное/романтика”. Дизайн персонажей приятен глазу; мне также понравилась цветовая палитра, которая, по сути, и создаёт атмосферу печали и загадочности. “Бог в мелочах”, как говорится. Мне нравится, как обошлись с первой серией – заинтриговывает сразу. Поэтому, если только это аниме вдруг не станет хуже, я буду настойчиво рекомендовать его всем, до конца сезона как минимум.

A ‘boy-meets-girl’ story. But the girl is a ghost. A ghost suffering from amnesia.
Yuuko is a charming young lady who died under mysterious circumstances she remembers nothing about in an old building of the school she supposedly attended and now dwells there as a ghost. She wants to know why and how she died, but the problem is, no-one can see or hear her. Well, almost no-one.
I believe I understand why I like this show so much. It’s basically ‘Another meets Nisemonogatari’, beautifully animated and with just the right amount of fanservice; an experienced viewer can unfailingly detect a harem, but it’s not a harem show in the strict sense of the word, so I guess it’s safe to call it simply a ‘supernatural romance’ anime. The character design is easy on the eyes; I also like the color palette used, because it basically creates the atmosphere of sadness and mystery. God is in the details, you know. I like how the first episode is handled; it actually manages to intrigue you. So, if this anime doesn’t experience a sudden drop in quality, I’m going to persistently recommend it to everyone till the end of the season.
